11 Things To Do This Summer

There comes a time every summer that I get into a lull where I feel like there's nothing fun left for me to do.. Anyone else? Today I'm rounding up my top 11 things to do this summer and putting them in a summer "bucket list". I included some stuff I've already done this summer because I am the type of person that starts "to-do" lists with something I've already accomplished just so I have something to cross off right away ;)

What is on your summer bucket list? Comment below anything you think I should add to my list!

4 Ingredient Green Smoothie to Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth

Happy hump day! As I am writing this, it is currently 11 pm and I just sat down to write tomorrow's post with not a clue what to write about. I was originally planning to do a post on The Bachelorette premier on Wednesday, but I feel like I need one or two more episodes under my belt before I can give my full thoughts and opinions.

Today I am sharing this PB banana smoothie I have been obsessed with lately. I think I've had some version of it the past three days in a row. It is SO good. I have a huge sweet tooth and find myself always craving chocolate (especially late at night...). There has literally never been a time I have thought to myself, "wow chocolate sounds horrible right now".. I never thought I would say this, but this smoothie satisfies my chocolate cravings. And here's the kicker. It's under 160 calories.

How do you make it? I'm glad you asked. It's four ingredients and SO easy:

A handful of frozen spinach (~7 calories)
1 frozen banana (~90 calories)
1/2 cup of almond milk (15 calories)
2 tbs PB2 peanut butter powder (45 calories)
**sometimes I put in 1 tbs of cocoa powder to switch it up (10 calories)**

When I drink this smoothie during the day, I don't feel the need for chocolate at night. It's a miracle worker if you're trying to shape up for summer like I am!

If you're wondering, this is the blender that I have and love! It even comes with a "quiet shield" if you have a habit of making smoothies early in the morning or late at night like I do! It makes smoothie-making so quiet!

Try out this smoothie & let me know what ya think!

Breezy Evening in Charleston

Oh how Charleston, SC has my heart. I don't think I will ever get sick of taking day trips down to this beautiful city. I have been coming to Charleston my whole life, yet every time I come, I seem to discover something that I've never seen before. We actually rode a pedicab to dinner (seen above), and it was so fun! I had never been in one, but it was so breezy, and it really impressed me that someone could bike around three other people on the uneven Charleston streets all day! Talk about a leg workout. Check my insta story today to see a selfie from the pedicab with my dad and Nanna.

Also- if you're visiting Charleston any time soon, I would highly recommend Fleet Landing for lunch or dinner! It's in such a great location and you can sit outside and have views of the water while you're eating! I ate the best grits and hushpuppies of my life there....

I got this dress last weekend, and it was perfect for exploring the city in! So easy and breezy (and beautiful, sorry i had to, lol). It's on sale right now and comes in two other colors also! (as you can tell on the website, the dress is meant to fit bigger, so order a size down if you want it to fit normally. I'm wearing a size S)

Below I'm linking two similar pairs of my lace-up sandals (which are from Old Navy last year). One of the pairs is only $17!

PS- my pom pom lace up sandals from this post sold out, but I just found them on a different website in a darker color. Is it bad that I'm considering ordering this color as well...? Linking there HERE

It's Monday which means back to the real world! I hope you all have a great week, and be sure to check back Wednesday for a fun post 🌹

Embroidered Skirt & Mother's Day Plans

OUTFIT DETAILS:

I'm bringing you my new favorite outfit on this hump day!

If you haven't noticed, embroidery is SO in this season! I've seen embroidered denim, shirts, and even shoes that I am obsessed with lately! I saw this skirt when I was making my spring wishlist, and I knew I needed it. I put it in my cart and ordered it no questions asked. (So much for thinking about my purchases before I buy them like I mentioned Monday..) Embroidered pieces can get pretty expensive, but what I liked about this skirt is that it's only $25! If you are planning on buying this skirt, I would recommend ordering a size up, because their clothes tend to run small sometimes (I'm wearing a size L and it fits perfectly!)

Also, the shoes I'm wearing have quickly become a favorite of mine! The heel is the perfect height, and the way they come up above your ankles lengthens your legs! Always a plus in my book!

The week has gone by so slowly for me, so I am definitely ready for the weekend! My Nanna is coming to visit this weekend from Indiana, so I am ready to spend some time with her! My oldest sister is also coming into town, so I'm excited to spend Mother's Day with both of my Nanna's, my parents, and all of my sisters! It will be a full house for sure!

If you do check the skirt out, there's also a promotion going on right now on the website I wanted to let you know about:

Pre-summer Lovin' Sale
Get $5 off over $55          CODE: COO5
Get $15 off over $105      CODE: COO15
Get $40 off over $200      CODE: COO40

What are your plans for Mother's day? Leave me a comment down below!

Thanks for reading, I'll see you Monday with another post!

What I Learned: Sophomore Year

Half way finished. I really can't believe that I am officially a junior in college. As cliche as it may be, time really does fly by when you're having fun. Today I'm sharing the highs & lows of my school year (thankfully the good outweighs the bad) as well as some things I learned along the way:

HIGHS:
1. Voting in my first presidential election
2. Meeting new friends
3. Watching both USC basketball teams go to the national championships
4. Learning how to cook
5. Starting a new job
6. Spring break trip
7. Strengthening existing friendships
8. Luke Bryan/Brett Eldridge concert
9. (Free!) Darius Rucker concert
10. Starting a blog!

LOWS:
1. Getting the flu
2. Watching our football team go 6-7
3. Losing touch with some friends
4. Slicing 3 of my fingers
(2 months later and they're still not 100% recovered)
5. Losing two family members

WHAT I LEARNED:
1. Who my true friends are// I mentioned this before, but since we don't live on campus after freshman year, seeing your friends that used to live down the hall or just a short walking distance away is a lot harder to do. I think sophomore year is where all of the friendships you make freshman year are put to test because you actually have to make an effort to see the people you want to.

2. How to grow up// Having an apartment this year forced me to grow up much more than I expected it would. I didn't realize last year how much hand-holding we got in the dorms. I could go get a meal anytime I wanted without paying out of my own pocket, and I even had someone come clean my bathroom for me every other week! This year, I had to learn to cook and meal plan, keep up with keeping my apartment kitchen and bathroom clean, keep up with paying various bills, etc.

3. How to live a healthy life// Because I was cooking for myself this year, I decided it was time to adapt a more healthy lifestyle. I incorporated a lot of vegetables into my diet, heavily limited my gluten intake, and tried to eat as cleanly as possible. Since January, I also started back running a little bit (not as much as I would like), and I've also started taking walks along the river. And what do you know... I have started seeing some results from eating clean(er) and moving more! I did, however, start drinking soda (diet coke) again this year after not drinking it for five years! You win some, you lose some I guess ;)

4. How to budget money// Going along with the whole "growing up" thing, I had to learn how to manage my money better this year. I was so used to buying anything I wanted, when I wanted, and at the beginning of the school year, I had a reality check real fast. I was spending WAY too much money. Now, I've worked on budgeting my money and thinking about things/saving my money up before I order everything in my online cart! I am still working on this though, lol.

5. How to settle for more// I stole the "settle for more" phrase from this book that I've been reading, but I've adapted it in my everyday life. The biggest lesson I've learned this year is 'If you don't like something, change it'. I knew I wanted a job that would give me real world experience, so I got one. I wanted better grades this year, so I studied more and got better grades. I wanted to have a creative outlet, so I made this blog. The list could go on and on... Not to make everything seem as easy as "I wanted it, so I got it", because I had to put in a lot of time and effort for all of those things to happen the way that they did, but if you're not happy with certain elements in your life, I would encourage you to think about what you can do to change them and settle for more.

That's a peak into what my sophomore year of college looked like! Thanks for reading this book of a blog post, if you made it all the way through :)

& thank you for all of the support I've received this year on starting the blog! I can't wait to see what this summer has in store!

Hot Pink + Pom Pom Sandals

OUTFIT DETAILS:
Hellooooo! If you follow me on Instagram, you would know that it is officially summer break for me! woohoooo!

The weather has been amazing here in SC and I have been spending any chance I get soaking up the sun (hence the lovely tan line on my back) and eating ice cream!

I have been on the HUNT for pom pom lace up sandals like these, but all of the ones I liked were $100+.. But I finally found these beauties for less than $20! They're SO fun, and I even got compliments from strangers as I was taking these pics! I love these because you can even wear them to spice up jean shorts and a plain shirt. If you've been looking for some shoes like this too, I would grab them before they sell out!

The romper I'm wearing is borrowed from one of my friends (thanks Rach ;) but I linked some other bright rompers that I love above!

Thanks for reading & happy Monday!
