13 Orders for Every Starbucks Drinker

I have been drinking Starbucks coffee for over 12 years now (and yes, I am 19 years old!) My dad is an avid coffee drinker, and would take my little sister and me to Starbucks all of the time when we were younger. (Back then I would order Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccinos and Peppermint Steamers!) Over the years, I'd like to think that I've learned my way around a Starbucks menu pretty well, and I have rounded up my top drinks split up into categories!

FOR THE STRONG COFFEE LOVER
1. Cold Brew// Like iced coffee, but stronger! Cold Brew is steeped for 24 hours, so they usually have a limited supply and sometimes run out mid day :( This was my jam last summer, especially with the vanilla sweet cream!

2. Americano// This is my go-to at the moment. I like this because there's no milk (it's literally just espresso and hot water aka no calories) and I drink it as is. SO good if you love strong/black coffee like me!

3. Cappuccino// Such a classic, but it's still an all time fav of mine. There's actually a local coffee shop here in Columbia that I think makes a better capp than Starbucks, but sometimes I just need to order a grande non fat cappuccino!

4. Latte Macchiato// This was my obsession last winter! I sometimes order it with caramel drizzle on top.

5. Flat White// This is very similar in taste to a latte macc, but I would say it's a little creamier because they use whole milk.

FOR THE NEW COFFEE DRINKER
1. Caramel Macchiato// Another classic. These are actually a little too sweet for me nowadays, but I get them occasionally. Sidenote: Am I the only one that can't stand iced caramel macchiatos? I don't know what it is, but all of the milk at the bottom really freaks me out (even if I stir it first!)

2. Seasonal flavors// If you're a newer coffee drinker, or just like sweeter/flavorful drinks, I would highly recommend seasonal or promotional flavors. The PSL and Peppermint Mochas are my all-time favs, but this winter I really enjoyed the Caramel Brulee latte as well!

3. White Chocolate Mocha// This was one of the first coffee drinks I started ordering from Starbucks. I usually order it with nonfat milk and half of the syrup pumps, (they usually put four in a grande), because it can be really sweet. My roommate last year used to "hate" coffee, and thanks to this drink (and my suggestion!) she has grown to expand her coffee horizons. (You're welcome, Morgan)

FOR THE COFFEE HATER (wyd?)
1. Coldbuster tea// This is SO good. If you haven't tried it, you really need to. It's kind of long and embarrassing to order if the barista has never heard of it, but it's so worth it! It hits the spot even if you're not sick! I've gotten my mom and roommate on board, and it's perfect for those days I'm trying to limit my caffeine. Here's how to order

2. Frappuccino// I don't really order frappes anymore because they're not the best for you, but if you don't like coffee, they have cream based frappes! I like the vanilla bean and green tea frappes the best.

3. Chai tea latte// Not a fan of these iced, but I enjoy a hot chai tea latte occasionally.

4. Pink Drink// I've actually never ordered this drink, but my little sister loves it, and I think it'd be perfect for someone that doesn't like coffee! It's just the strawberry acai refresher with coconut milk. It's a little too sweet for me, and I would just rather have coffee (go figure!)

5. DIY Refresher// This is kind of weird, but for a while I was obsessed with getting a canned refresher drink from the coolers in Starbucks, and then buying a cup of ice with three pumps of raspberry syrup in it to pour the canned refresher drink over. The refreshers technically have green coffee in them, so they're full of caffeine without the taste of actual coffee!

OTHER TIPS
1. Grande and Venti lattes have the same amount of coffee in them, the difference in size comes from more milk in a venti.
2. If I order an extra shot of espresso in my drink, I usually order it "affagato" style, which means that they pour it over the top of the drink after the drink is finished. This allows the espresso to drizzle down into the drink, as opposed to it just being mixed in.
3. If you order Almond milk in your hot drinks, some Starbucks make them at the kid temperature so the almond milk doesn't "scorch". I personally don't taste a difference when it's at the normal temp, so I always double check with the barista before hand to make sure he/she doesn't make it at the kid's temperature.

Whoo! That was a lot, but hopefully you found that helpful! Let me know what your go-to Starbucks order is, or if you try out any of these suggestions!

iPhone Apps To Make Your Life Easy

Long time no talk! So sorry for the lack of a post last Wednesday, things got a little crazy last week in  my world! Here's a little life update:

Last week I actually started an internship, and am going to be working there about 23 hours a week, in addition to my current job that I work 9 hours a week. Add in a 15-credit hour school schedule and a social life, and I just got REAL busy REAL quick! But don't get me wrong, I love being busy, and was actually going a little crazy with how much free time I had during the day before... I say all this to say that I still have every intention of posting here every Monday and Wednesday, but bear with me as I try to figure out this new schedule and time management and all of that!

Today I wanted to round up my favorite apps that I think everyone should know about! I'm not the type of person to have a million apps on phone that I never use, (nobody got storage for that!) but I like having apps that make me feel organized and make my life a little easier. I obviously use social media apps and three, yes three, different email apps all of the time, but I wanted to include some less obvious apps that are super helpful that you may have never heard of!

1. UNUM// If you're obsessed with your Instagram "theme", I would highly recommend getting this app! You just sign in to your account and it allows you to see if a picture would look good before you actually upload it to Instagram. I think you can even schedule pictures to actually upload straight from there, but I usually just post them myself when I'm ready. It's especially useful if you're trying to decide between a couple of different pictures, so you can see them all side by side to pick the best one! I seriously use it every time I'm getting ready to post a picture. I know there are a lot of similar apps, but I like this one because it's free!

2. TIMEHOP// I feel like this was more popular a couple of years ago, but I still check my timehop every morning. It's similar to "Facebook memories", but it allows you to sign in to all of your social media accounts, and it tells you what you posted on that day in previous years! You can even register your camera roll so you can see the pictures you took on that day if you have the same phone! It's so interesting to me to recall what I was up to in previous years, and it's kind of embarrassing to see my Facebook statuses from like 6 years ago...

3. MYFITNESSPAL// I won't spend too much time talking about this app, because I explained it in my Fitness Motivation post, but this app is super helpful when I'm out to eat and can quickly look up the nutrition info for the food I'm about to order!

4. GOODBUDGET// I just recently started using this, but I am trying to actually be an adult and work on better managing my money so I don't blow it all at once... You can put in your monthly income and create folders for each monthly expense you have i.e. "Groceries: $100" or "Utility bill $50" etc. Each time you purchase something, you enter it in to hold yourself accountable for your spending! You can even link it to a partner's account. This app isn't free, (which I realized after I downloaded it...) but I'm sure there are plenty of free similar ones.

5. POSHMARK// I am obsessed with Poshmark! It's basically an online Plato's Closet, but you can earn so much more money for your items. I don't really buy off of it, but I love using it to get extra money for items I don't wear anymore. I will say though that it's a little tougher to sell items that aren't a nice/designer brand, but it's def not impossible. The best part is that the customer pays a flat-rate shipping cost of $6, and then you (the seller) get emailed a pre-paid mailing label to just drop off at the post office! Super easy, and Poshmark only keeps 20% of the sale. While a customer can barter a lesser amount for an item, there's none of the bidding nonsense that I hate about Ebay... Follow me here to shop my closet :)

6. VSCO// This is a photo editing app and lowkey social media app. This is what I primarily use to edit my pictures! I love the VSCO filters (my favorite is C1). You can just edit pictures to save to your camera roll, or you can choose to upload them to your profile! I usually post "artsy-ier" pictures on my VSCO if that makes sense. I say that it's a "lowkey" social media app because while you can follow people, there's no likes and you can't see how many followers other people have, so it's more just about the pictures.

7. VENMO// All of my college friends know what this is, but you really don't realize how you lived without venmo until you actually have it. This app allows you to send money to your friends so easily! It's so useful if you're like me and forget to pay people back/forget to ask people to pay you back because you can pay AND charge people! I also know that some people use it to pay rent each month, etc. (it really is so useful!) You can see who your friends are paying too, which is always funny (but you can't see how much they're paying obviously).

8. BLOGLOVIN// I also mentioned this before, but Bloglovin is basically like Pinterest but just for blog posts! I personally like to follow a lot of different blogs (and a lot of different types of blogs) and this allows me to see all recent posts of the blogs I follow in a newsfeed. Follow my blog here if you want!

9. BIBLE// There's a million different Bible apps, but my favorite one is literally just called "Bible" haha (It's the first one that comes up when you search Bible in the app store.) This app is cool though because it has so many different free devotional plans that you can do with specific topics to target exactly what you want to work on. For example, there are plans that offer biblical perspectives for dealing with anxiety, putting others first, race issues, managing your time, etc. There are seriously thousands of different plans/subjects, and you can search for a specific one as well. I like them because they're typically pretty short, so I feel accomplished when I complete one. (The last one I did, "Women on a Mission" was only three days!) I just started one called "Live Out Your Faith With Fitness" that's five days long! I never really thought about faith and fitness being related, so I'm really excited to read the devotional and corresponding verses tonight for it!

10. KIMOJI// Something you may not know about me, but you probably don't know anyone that "keeps up with the Kardashians" more than I do... I follow them all on all social media, and will always be ready to share updates about any of the Kardashian/Jenner girls. I seriously live for Khloe and Kourtney's daily workout sessions on snapchat. As you can imagine, when Kim announced her "Kimoji" app release, (emojis and animated gifs of Kim and things relevant to Kim's life, if you're not in the know), I was ALL over it! I find pride in finding the perfect Kimoji to use to respond to my friends... Sidenote: This app costs $1.99 and I heard that at it's peak, it was being downloaded over 9,000 times per second. This means Kim was making over $1 mil per minute JUST from the app. And this is just one of three apps she owns. Just let that sink in for a hot sec...

11. COUPON SHERPA// This is kind of a random app but I've been using it for years, so I felt obligated to include it on this list! I basically use this app when I'm shopping at stores to see if it has any coupons available! It also can use your location to automatically show you coupons near you, which is super helpful! I don't check it for every store, but it's really useful for stores that usually always have some sort of promotion going on (like Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Barnes and Noble, etc). After you use a coupon, it asks you if it worked or not, so it does a good job about filtering out invalid coupons. I've actually never had a coupon not work for me on the app, and it always deletes offers once they expire. It has saved me a good amount of money over the years, especially considering it's a free app!

What are your must have apps? I would love to know if there are any I need to try out! Thanks for reading!

Valentine's Gift Guide & 5 Date Ideas

Valentine's day is right around the corner, so I thought I would round up my fav things that are pink and girly! I wouldn't mind getting any all of this, am I right??

One of my friends sent me a list of posts she wanted to see on my blog, (shoutout to you, Bri!) and one of those ideas was date ideas for Valentine's! I laughed at first because I am definitely not the one to ask for date tips, but I decided to list some ideas to try and switch up a boring night of just going out to dinner...

1. ROLLER SKATING// Some of my friends and I went roller skating a couple of weeks ago and it was so much fun! I hadn't been in probably 8 or 9 years so I wasn't very good at first, but I surprisingly never fell. Also, if you watch the Bachelor you know how cute roller skating dates can be! (Go Raven!!)
2. DINNER IN// Restaurants are always so crowded on v-day, so making dinner together (or even doing a picnic) could be a fun way to spend the night. Honestly, my ideal night would be dinner in and going out for dessert!

3. BOWLING// Bowling, or even a game of putt-putt, is always a good idea.

4. FIRST DATE// I saw something on Pinterest about couples re-creating their first date on Valentine's and I think that could be really cute as well!

5. GALENTINES DINNER// No valentine? Get together with all of your single gals and do a dinner and movie night in!

Also, the rose gold Kate Spade wallet I linked is FINALLY back in stock! I got this wallet for Christmas and I always get so many compliments on it. It's so pretty in person! It sold out pretty fast last time, so I would recommend snagging it soon if you want it.

What are your plans for v-day? I'd love to know!
Thanks for reading, see you Wednesday

FOOD FAVS// I've been trying to eat pretty healthy so far this year, and I've been loving sweet potatoes! They're so good & good for you, so what more could you really ask for? I've been thinking about sharing some of my favorite healthy recipes, and could include how I prepare the sweet potatoes if you're interested! Everyone knows I love coffee, but I've also really been getting back into tea. This green tea with coconut is my current obsession, and when I'm in the mood for tea at Starbucks, I get the "medicine ball" (recipe here). For coffee this month, I've been ordering toffee nut lattes with almond milk at Starbucks, and Caramel iced coffee with almond milk (no sweetener) at Dunkin'. There's a Dunkin drive-through really close to my apartment, and I have to stop myself or else I'll go everyday!

MEDIA FAVS// New category to my monthly favs, but both of these are SO good: first, I have to mention TheSkimm. This is a daily email you receive (or they have an app!) that gets you caught up on the news! I can't stress how much smarter I feel actually knowing what's going on in the world, and being able to form an opinion and actually join people's discussions on current affairs. (and also being able to educate my friends!) I really like TheSkimm because it doesn't take me too long to read, and it puts the news in terms that are easy to understand. I would also say it's geared towards a 20-something old age group, so it's pretty hip and can be really funny! I would highly recommend checking it out! Another media favorite is the "Serial" podcast. I, like you probably do, used to think podcasts were so boring and never even bothered... Last semester in one of my journalism classes, we got extra credit if we listened to the first episode of the first season, and I. got. hooked. So hooked that my friend and I are actually considering taking an introduction to podcasting class that my school offers! "Serial" is all about an investigation of a murder, and whether or not the guy that got convicted actually did it. (which is really weird because I normally don't like crime-y TV shows!) I just downloaded the podcast app on my phone and they have all of the episodes on there for free! I'm almost done with season 1!

BEAUTY FAVS// I've been really into skincare products this month, and really trying to lay off the makeup to give my skin a break. I've had this electric face brush for years, and I had forgotten how much I love it! It's so good at exfoliating and it leaves my skin feeling baby smooth! And you really can't beat the price!

MUSIC FAVS// John Mayer just released four new songs from his new album last week, and I haven't stopped listening to them since! I am so excited he's going on tour this year!! I also really love Ed Sheeran's new songs "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill".

My favorites were kind of all over the place this month, but I hope you enjoyed my recap of January! Also, if you're subscribed to my monthly newsletter, you got the first newsletter in your inbox this morning with a cute iPhone wallpaper for Feb that I designed myself! If you don't want to miss out for next month, enter your email in the bar at the very top of my blog!
