The Tote That Will Save Your Life

Hey there! I would like you to meet my favorite bag that I own right now!! The story behind this bag is actually kind of funny...

My mom had been wanting this exact tote for a while, and she was the one that first showed it to me. This summer, I saw a couple of similar bags in other stores, but never got around to actually buying one. Later in the summer, I came across this giveaway for the bag on Pinterest, and entered it. (I enter blog giveaways all of the time, so I didn't think much of it!) I received an email weeks later from Courtney, the girl behind Minimalista.co, telling me I won the bag and the matching clutch (seen here). I was so excited and my mom told me that I should give her the bag and not keep it for myself... HA.

On to the bag... I like this bag because you can seriously fit SO much in it. I love using it to put my computer and books in to go study, and I've also used it as an overnight bag before. I was kind of kidding with the title of this post, but also kind of not kidding... This tote has come close to saving my life because it's perfect to throw everything into when you're running late! (And if you know me, you know that's all the time...)

If you're not familiar with the Madewell brand, it is amazing! I've owned a couple pairs of their jeans before, and they are the best jeans I've ever owned! I really wanted to review this Madewell Transport Tote because the quality of everything I've owned from Madewell is incomparable, and I can't keep something this good to myself...
(Also, I don't know anyone who wouldn't want this tote as a Christmas gift...)

Do you have a go-to bag that you swear by? I'd love to know!

Holiday Online Shopping: How to Save Money

Happy Cyber Monday! Online shopping is perfect for this time of year, because pretty much every store is packed all. of. the. time. from now until Christmas!  I would say that I have been doing most of my shopping online lately, just because it's more convenient while I'm at school. There was a time a couple of months ago when I would find myself in the office of my apartment building picking up packages multiple times a week... (I went in one day and the receptionist looked at me and said, "Ariana Mount. I'm guessing you're here for a package pickup?") yeah... that happened..

I feel like I've learned some ways to save some money while shopping online, and I'm excited to share those with you today!

1. SIGN UP FOR EMAILS// This may seem like a no-brainer, but this is almost always a sure way to save at least 10% on your purchase. Usually when I go to a website, there will be a pop-up prompting you to sign up for the site's email subscription and get a percentage off of the first purchase, so this is pretty easy to find. If I know I won't be shopping at that store again, there's always the option to unsubscribe from their emails after I use the code. Also, if you know that you will continue shopping there, I would definitely recommend staying signed up. (I have an email just for stores/junk mail that I don't regularly check, but instead I search for a specific store's latest emails when I'm ready to purchase from their site to learn about current promotions and see if they've sent any discount codes.)

2. ADD TO CART// If I'm considering buying something but am unsure, I will add it to my cart anyways. A couple days later, some websites will send you a "you left an item in your cart" email with a coupon code encouraging you to complete your order. This works more for sites like Amazon, but Forever 21 has done something similar for me in the past as well.
(This usually only works if you're signed into an account on the website)

3. CHECK FOR FREE SHIPPING// This one also may seem like a no-brainer, but checking a store's free shipping policy can save you so much money. A lot of websites I shop on have "free shipping on orders over ____" policies. On the other hand, Nordstrom always has free shipping and returns, so I usually check their site if I'm looking to buy a specific item.

4. SEARCH FOR COUPON CODES// Right before I'm ready to buy something, I'll usually google the store name and "coupon code" to see if anything comes up. Normally sites like Groupon and Retailmenot have codes, but they don't always work. It's always worth a shot though!

5. SOCIAL MEDIA// If I shop at a store frequently, I almost always follow them on Twitter and Instagram. Not only does this allow you to see their new items right when they're released, you sometimes get access to special deals that are only for the company's "followers". I have seen this so many times, especially on companies' snapchat accounts.

Those are all of the tips I have on how to save some extra cash while you're holiday shopping! Let me know if you have any other tips that you have discovered!

Thanksgiving Outfit Inspiration

skort not available on versona anymore, but this is similar// similar sweater here and here// white bralette// beaded necklace// gold hoops// Kate Spade bangle// gold cuff// gold FitBit cover// Leather clutch// Tory Burch Riding Boots not on site anymore, similar TB pair here// nail polish color (doesn't look as purple in person)// lip color in 'exotic'

I can't believe tomorrow is Thanksgiving! I have been especially looking forward to thanksgiving dinner this year because this is the first year I started cooking for myself, so I have a greater appreciation for home-cooked meals now more than ever!

For the past couple years, my family and I have color-coordinated our outfits for thanksgiving.. (yes we are THAT family).. but it actually makes the pictures turn out really well! Last year we did navy and gold, and this year we are doing army green!

This isn't the actual outfit that I plan on wearing tomorrow, but I think this would be a great option if you're still looking for last minute inspiration for an outfit! Also, this sweater is actually one my mom gave me that she's had forever, so I'd encourage you to work with old clothing options you normally wouldn't wear! (or steal your mom's!) I love this sweater because it's the perfect length to wear with skirts or high-waisted bottoms.

What are your family's thanksgiving traditions? I would love to know!
Thanks for reading, and have a happy thanksgiving!

Thankful. Blessed. Grateful.

The holiday season is my favorite, and not just because of the seasonal coffee flavors that reemerge every year... (I'm slightly embarrassed to admit that I am one of those people that starts listening to Christmas music November 1, but only slightly). I also love this season because, as elementary as it may sound, I like to take time each year to reflect on what I am thankful for.

STRONG COFFEE// the only reason I'm able to wake up before 11 a.m. if I'm being honest.

VOTING FOR THE FIRST TIME// I mentioned this in my previous post, but as annoying as this campaign season was, and regardless of whether or not you were happy with the outcome of the election, I have found myself thankful that I am able to live under a democracy and have a right to vote.

GOOD TIMES WITH FRIENDS// living off campus this semester makes it a lot harder to hang out with friends, which weirdly has made me grow closer relationships. Thankful for the memories I've already made this year.

HEALTH OF FAMILY// something to always be thankful for, obviously.

Thankful. Blessed. Grateful. This t-shirt is a great reminder of what I'm feeling as Thanksgiving approaches! The graphic tee trend isn't going anywhere, and this one is actually from a family friend's new clothing line called Raising Arrows! It's so soft, and she just recently released some new holiday designs so I'm thinking about ordering another one soon!

Life Update + HELLO

agenda//glasses in color "tortoise green"

Oh hi! Here I am attempting to do the blog thing once again, except this time I plan on actually committing to it!

This year I am a sophomore at USC, and SO much has happened this semester, so here's an update of my past three months:

-APARTMENT LIVING// In August, I moved into my first apartment! Even though I lived in a dorm last year, I consider this year my first year really living "on my own". It's definitely a major adjustment from dorm living (aka I actually have to go grocery shopping more than once a month) but I am loving it!

-NEW JOB// At the very end of August I got hired at one of the University's call centers, and started working there in September. It is an extremely different atmosphere than my previous job, and it's taken some getting used to for sure. That being said, I think the change was something I needed and I am overall happy with my decision.

-MAJOR AND MINOR// In October I officially declared my minor as Retailing. I have always been interested in fashion, and I thought this was a perfect way to dig deeper into one of my "hobbies". (Can you even call fashion a hobby?) I also thought this would pair nicely with my Broadcast Journalism major. A professor this semester told my class that it is important for journalists to find their journalism "nitch", such as investigative reporting, sports, politics, etc. and I discovered that I want to ultimately end up on the entertainment side of broadcasting. In November, I was accepted into USC's Upper Division Broadcast Journalism program, which I had applied for earlier in the semester.

-VOTING// Being able to vote in a presidential election for the first time was pretty cool this year also! I  also got to vote with both of my parents, which was worth waking up at 6 am to drive 30 minutes to our voting location, I guess...

-BLOGGING// I have been wanting to start this blog for a while now, and have spent long hours with Google trying to get everything looking the way I want it to. I realized that if I waited for it to be perfect before I posted anything, I would never post. So here it is!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you decide to stick around as I figure out what I'm doing and join the fun!
